Re : 6 Digit Wireless ESN's (Electronic Serial Numbers)

DSC would like to clarify the 5 digit/6 digit wireless serial number issue. To reduce the chance of duplication, wireless serial numbers will be changed over time to 6 digits, which will allow for over 1 million combinations. Old version wireless receivers require a 5 digit serial number, newer receivers require a 6 digit serial number.

Old transmitters have only a 5 digit serial number. New transmitters will have a 5 digit and a 6 digit serial number. Because the transmitter can be changed without removing the back plate, the serial number(s) are also printed on a sticker affixed to the circuit board of the transmitter.

Wireless transmitters are divided into classes. The first digit of the wireless serial number will depend on the class of the transmitter. The sticker on the back plate contains the whole 5 and/or 6 digit number. The sticker affixed to the circuit board does not contain the first digit of the serial number. Use the following chart to determine the first digit of the wireless serial number.

1st digit [2] WLS-905, WLS-907
1st digit [3] WLS-904
1st digit [4] WLS-906
1st digit [5] WLS-908
1st digit [6] or [9] WLS-909
1st digit [7] WLS-910

To summarize:

Transmitter with 5 digit
Serial Number Only
Transmitter with 5 digit and
6 digit serial number
PC5132 v1.x
PC5132 v2.x
PC4164 v1.x
use 5 digit serial number use 5 digit serial number
PC5132 v3.x
PC4164 v2.x
add [0] in front of 5 digit serial number use 6 digit serial number only

Over the next few months, this change will be made to all wireless transmitters.
